GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality’s electrical teams are responding to several power outages affecting parts of George.
The Municipality is aware of the urgent need to restore the electricity supply and is doing everything possible to attend to the outages.
Teams are actively responding to all reported faults, and residents are kindly requested to remain patient.
The 66kV Glenwood substation, as well as Eskom’s supply in Wilderness, remain offline.
The Glenwood substation currently supplies the following distribution areas:
- Rosemoor
- Lavalia
- Bergsig
- Eden
- Denver Park
- Geneva
- Eastern Extension
- Kraaibosch
- Victoria Bay
- Outeniqua Lifestyle Centre
- Garden Route Mall
- Eden Meander
- Groenkloof
- Blue Mountain Estates
- Glenhaven
- Welgelegen
The following areas are currently experiencing power outages:
- Airport Line
- Gwaiing
- Herold’s Bay Farms
- Modderrivier
- Geelhoutboom
- New Dawn Park
- Hansmoeskraal
- Le Grand Estate
- Zones 7, 8, and 9, Thembalethu
- Rondebos
- Saasveld
There is currently no estimated time of restoration.
Eskom supply interruption
Eskom’s 132kV supply to George has been restored. As a result, several substations that had previously tripped have also been restored, and many areas should have regained their electricity supply.
Members of the public are encouraged to report power outages or live electrical cables to the George Municipality after-hours call centre on 044 801 6300 or 044 801 6311.
