GEORGE NEWS - After 27 years of singing, the George Male Voice Choir is still going strong. Since it was founded in 1982 by Dalene Brits, the choir had numerous successful performances in South Africa and abroad.
Throughout its lifespan the choir has always been an ambassador for George. Currently, the choir consist of 17 active members.
Gideon Brits, a seasoned soloist and music teacher, was appointed in January as the choir's fourth conductor. He intends to take the choir to new heights - not only in South Africa, but also abroad.
They had a successful performance at the Bloemfontein Male Voice Choir Festival in October and their local performances throughout the year were equally well received. At least eight more performances, which include performances at church services, retirement villages and other venues, are planned for the Garden Route district this year.
Keep an eye out for the choir's Facebook page which will be up and running soon, featuring all their scheduled performances.
The choir aims for a membership of at least 25, which leaves room for additional voices in all four voice parts.
