Oil paintings on canvas, photographs and ceramics are shown to advantage in Lynne de Jonge's well-lit The Rabbit Room art gallery at 76A Langenhoven Street, Heatherlands.
The exhibition, which opened last Wednesday with a cocktail party, will run for a month and includes the paintings of Louis Jansen van Vuuren (one of South Africa's top artists), Fiona Rowett, Robyn Rossouw, Louise Hennigs, Helen Pfeil and Lynne de Jonge (collage paintings).
Hoekwil artist Hein Botha's photos look like paintings and are titled Beach Abstracts. John Bryant is a renowned wildlife and landscape photographer, who has captured the vivid images of Africa.
All of the participants are well established and exhibit by invitation of the gallery owner Lynne, who likes to surround herself with work that brings her pleasure. The ceramics are exquisite and colourful and the creation of Mariki Stassen and Billy Kirby. The wildlife bronzes of Bridget Randall are eye-catching.
The gallery also functions as a studio with new windows and skylights. Gallery hours are 10:00 to 17:30 daily and Lynne can be reached on 083 456 4809.
