POLITICAL NEWS - The Presidency says President Jacob Zuma has only now received all the information needed to appoint a permanent South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board.
Parliament completed its interviews of the public broadcaster's candidates and submitted the 12 recommended names for Zuma to make a final decision and appointment last month.
The Presidency’s Bongani Ngqulunga says Zuma only received all the information late on Friday.
“In the near future, we expect that the board is going to be appointed because the president has all the information he had asked for.
“We understand the urgency of the matter that there needs to be a board at the SABC and so the matter is being treated with the urgency that it deserves.”
Meanwhile, the Economic Freedom Fighters has threatened to take legal action if Zuma doesn’t name the board today.
