GEORGE NEWS - 'When a new form of art appears on the market, it will receive mixed reactions", says Jenny Bischoff, an artist from Wilderness Heights. "Some will be amazed, others will not, but all will more than likely at least take a second look."
Bischoff gives classes in needle felting, a new craft form in George where one makes items like cute little animals or other characters. Nothing new about that, one would say. But what makes this different is that one would never guess from the finished product that it's made of plain old wool.
One doesn't need to be an artist either.
Felting is a simple process done with wool and a special barbed needle. Once you have your fuzzy felted wool, you can let your imagination run wild.
"I believe being creative is far more important, and this you will learn as you progress in needle felting. Even a child can do basic felting," says Bischoff.
