GEORGE NEWS FLASH - Students at NMMU's George Campus have just received an e-mail from Prof Derrick Swarts, the vice-chancellor of NMMU, saying that classes have been cancelled today.
The management of NMMU George have confirmed that George Campus is closed. A crowd of 30 students are currently toyi-toying at the main entrance.
Yesterday was a great victory for the George Campus students as they left for Port Elizabeth to join their fellow students in the protest at NMMU's PE Campus, yet it was disappointing as the meeting with Prof Swarts never materialised as the students changed the venue. Swarts did not go to the new venue as it was not in the agreement.
“It is time for us to act decisively here in George and close down the campus,” said Namdipha September, secretary of the SRC at NMMU George Campus.
