“Madonsela is one of six recipients of honorary doctorate degrees in Wits’ first graduation cluster for 2017, which runs from 23 March to 31 March,” Wits senior communications officer Schalk Mouton said.
“The other recipients of honorary doctorate degrees include business leaders Patrice Motsepe and Adrian Gore, Justice Carole Lewis and Professor Eddie Webster and more than 5,000 students will be capped during this period.”
Madonsela received her BA in Law at the University of Swaziland, after which she completed an LLB at Wits in 1990. She was appointed to the office of the Public Protector of South Africa in 2009 where she served until 2016.
