GEORGE NEWS - Hoekwil Primary Head Girl, Landon Crowther (13) who started the Keep Hoekwil Wam project, together with three prefects at the school earlier this year, warmed the hearts of 52 learners at Lancewood Primary School yesterday.
The learners each received a blanket to keep the worst of the Winter cold away. Some of the little ones received a fleece blanket, of which the older ones each received one of the colorful hand-knitted blankets.
The principal of the school, Mr. Robert Draai said it could not have been a more perfect day to give each of the children a blanket, and thanked Landon and the girls for the initiative.
"You have brought warmth to the school, and I trust this is also warming the hearts of the children," said Draai.
Landon, who initially aimed for 20 blankets, beamed with joy as they received a whopping 200 blankets (180 more than the target). The rest of the blankets will be handed out in the community today.
