POLITICAL NEWS - amaBhungane journalists have accused Black First Land First (BLF) of intimidating them at a Gupta leaks event last week and again at Cape Town International Airport on Wednesday.
The South African National Editors Forum (Sanef)'s lawyer says while the Police Ministry has condemned last week's intimidation of journalists by BLF, police officers have been slow to act.
Sanef believes it and the courts have done their part and that it is now up to law enforcement officers to implement the court order interdicting BLF from harassing or intimidating journalists.
Investigative journalists from amaBhungane have accused BLF of intimidating them at a Gupta leaks event in Braamfontein last week and again at Cape Town International Airport on Wednesday.
Sanef's lawyer Okyerebea Ampofo-Anti says police need to start acting on these incidents.
“Even though police officer did come to the scene after they were called, they refuse to act, citing the fact that they don’t want to get involved in political matters.”
But BLF's Lindsay Maasdorp claims his organisation's members are the victims, not the journalists.
