GEORGE NEWS FLASH - A prominent local businessman appeared in the George Magistrate's Court this afternoon, Monday 21 August, for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend's 5-year-old son.
This was the suspect's third court appearance since allegedly beating the boy with a wooden spoon 2 months ago.
The case was postponed until 2 October for legal representation.
Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie said the child's father noticed blue marks on the boy's buttocks during a weekend visit. The marks were still visible a week later.
The father took the child to a local doctor after which he laid a charge of assault at the George police station.
The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the child.
