GEORGE NEWS - Western Cape Aquatics, in cooperation with the Eden Aquatics District, hosted the Open Water Swimming Championship on 8 and 9 February.
It took place at the Sable Hill farm dam in Geelhoutboom outside George.
Open water athletes compete in this prestigious event to obtain qualifying times to participate at the Senior National Open Water Championships that will be taking place in Jeffrey's Bay in March.

Athletes born between 2001 and 2006 will be taking part in the national championship, hoping to secure a position in the South African OWS team that will participate at the Junior World Open Water Swimming Championship to be held in Seychelles in August 2020, while the seniors will be battling it out to qualify for the Olympics in July.
