Sometimes life is unfair and the wind gets knocked out of your sails very quickly. When this happens you have one of two choices: Either get up, dress up and show up or stick your head in the ground like an ostrich and wait until it all blows over.
I prefer to face my fears. I believe by facing our fears and our demons we become stronger, better, more experienced people and one day we might even be able to give good advice. Advice is something you can only give when you have failed in life. Failed, got up and tried again… then you can dish out advice.
Either way, you have to keep swimming. You can’t just give up. Life carries on whether you are in it or not, whether you like it or not.
I know it’s hard. I know sometimes you just want to stay in bed, pull the blankets over your head and sleep until it all blows over… but I’m afraid you’ll have to sleep until you’re dead then. It will never simply blow over. And besides, whether it blows over or you face whatever it is that’s gnawing at you, there will be scars. There will be memories. How you react to scars will determine the memories.
We all have the power to forgive. How we use that power is up to us. We cannot change what happened but we can change how we react to it.
