GEORGE NEWS - York High School old boy, Sean Miller (24) will officiate the FNB Varsity Cup final on Monday 14 April between old foes, Maties and the Ikey Tigers.
Kick-off at the Stellenbosch University's Danie Craven Stadium is at 19:00 and will be broadcast live on Supersport.
FNB UCT (Ikeys) reached their fourth consecutive Varsity Cup final by defeating FNB UP Tuks 48-35 in their semi-final clash last week at Tuks Stadium.
Meantime, log leaders, FNB Maties had a much closer semi-final battle at home against FNB UFS Shimlas, coming away with a 19-7 win.
SWD Rugby Referees Society chairman, Gavin Esau said Miller's potential as a referee was fist spotted by South African Rugby Union (SARU) rugby referee development officer, Eugene Daniels a few years ago when Miller, who at the time was still in school, was officiating farm rugby games in Herold.
Today Miller is on our country's elite referees panel, overseen by Jaco Peyper and also holds a place on the United Rugby Championship (URC) reserve referee panel. He has also been officiating Currie Cup matches across the country while running flag at URC level to gain experience.
