GEORGE NEWS - The largest group of the country's most talented, top lawn bowlers ever brought together in the Eden District will be competing in George during the first SA open inter-district competition from 12 to 16 March.
The men's competition will be played at the George and Outeniqua bowling clubs and the ladies will play in Oudtshoorn.
By its very nature, the inter-district tournament brings together the top selected players from twenty districts and many future international players were discovered during these tournaments.
A total of 160 players of each gender will compete for the title of the champion district in the country. Gauteng North (Blue Bulls) is the current champion, but can expect tough opposition.
The finals of both the mens and ladies section will be played from 13:30 at the George Bowling Club on Friday 16 March and will no doubt display some of the best bowls ever seen in George.
All the games start at 09:00 every day and entry to all the clubs is free.
nAn additional bonus for the region's followers of bowls is that the Protea men and ladies teams that will compete in the Commonwealth Games in Australia early in April will be in action against selected players on Friday and Saturday, 9 and 10 March, at the George Bowling Club.
