EDEN DISTRICT SPORT NEWS - Three athletes from the Spring Tide Triathlon Academy have been selected to represent Eden Triathlon at the South African Duathlon Championships, which will be hosted at the Midmar Dam in KZN on Sunday 1 July.
They are being coached by Franna Vorster, a well-known coach in George and former triathlon athlete that has represented South Africa in the international triathlon arena. Most of his junior and elite athletes have done extremely well in the current season.
Apart from a busy multisport programme, Curro Mossel Bay's Linél Engelbrecht and Mossel Bay entrepreneur, Rohan Swanepoel, participated in both the Eden XCM and Eden XCO series where they were serious contenders and regular podium winners.
Linél will also be taking part in the remainder of the Southern Cape Spur XCO series having missed the first race hosted at Klipheuwel MTB Park, Klein-Brak, in favour of the final duathlon league event that was held at NMU Campus in George on Sunday.
Not to be forgotten is young Joshua Vorster, who is most definitely following in his father's footsteps and at a young age proving to be a formidable athlete.
Joshua and Linél have to complete a 2.5 km run, a 10 km time trial cycle and a 1.25 km run while Rohan will have to do a 10 km run, a 40 km time trial cycle and, finally, a 5 km run in the fastest time possible.
