GEORGE NEWS - A festival of school sport, the 14th annual Mega High School Sports Festival, kicked off earlier today, Monday 30 March.
Taking place until Friday 3 April, the event will once again bring together some of South Africa’s top young sporting talent for a week of high-energy competition across the Garden Route.
Hosted by Southern Cape Sports Tours in partnership with George Tourism, the festival will feature rugby, hockey, netball, soccer and tennis, with both boys’ and girls’ teams taking part.
The 2026 programme also introduces a primary school division under the Eden Games banner, further expanding the event’s reach.
Schools from George and surrounding areas will go head to head with leading institutions from across the country, offering local supporters the chance to get behind homegrown talent.
Matches will be played at Outeniqua Park Stadium, Outeniqua High School and Eden Technical High School daily from 08:30 to 16:00.
Tickets will be available at the gate at R30 for adults and R20 for learners, while children under the age of seven enter free of charge.
The organisers have once again acknowledged the vital support of George Tourism, whose partnership continues to help position George as a premier destination for school sport, while also contributing to local tourism and the economy.
