local municipalities and the Department of Arts, Culture and Sports today, 8 July at Pine Lodge in George.
This Summit forms part of the consultation process of Sport and Recreation in South Africa and will contribute towards
the development of a new Draft Sport Plan for South Africa.
During the summit, which will start at 15:00 and end at 20:00, the following sport issues will be discussed:
- Transformation
- School Sport
- Recreation
- Funding
around sport so that a clear and common understanding can be developed informing and giving direction at national and provincial level.
Some of the other topics include sport development, sport opportunities as well as job opportunities in the sport movement.
The conference organizers have targeted various stakeholders, including media, sport forums, the SWD Sport Council,
Department Culture Arts and Sports, the private sector and civil society, as well as people living with disabilities.
The Draft National Sport plan, which has been released by the South African Sport and Recreation Department, has been released countrywide for comment by sport bodies and the general public.
Conference organizers expect one hundred and fifty (150) participants to attend.
