GEORGE NEWS - Seven athletes from the Garden Route represented the Eden Karate Federation at the Karate South Africa (KSA) Gqeberha League 1 in Gqeberha from 21 to 22 August.
The Eden team returned with an impressive haul of nine medals across the kata and kumite divisions, comprising three gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
Aspirito van Neel won gold in kumite and bronze in kata, while Lianke Barkhuysen and Nikisha Jonck each claimed gold in kumite.
Donovan Jantjies earned silver in kumite, while Chelsea Jansen took silver in both kata and kumite. Pierre Beneke and Liana Saayman each secured bronze in kumite.
The performances reflect the athletes’ continued dedication, discipline and hard work, and mark another strong showing for the Eden Karate Federation on the national stage.
Special recognition goes to Eden head coach Shihan Mareon Ferndale for his dedication in preparing, guiding and supporting the athletes throughout the competition.
