REGIONAL NEWS - The eagerly awaited Eden Duathlon #2 is set to take place at Laerskool Vorentoe in Great Brak River on Sunday 19 May.
The event offers an exciting array of races designed to cater for athletes of various skill levels and ages and promises a day of intense competition and community spirit.
Race distances and entry fees
Standard: Participants will tackle a 10km run, 40km cycle and a final 5km run. The entry fee is R250 for solo competitors, provided there are 15 or more online registrations. Teams can enter for R255 per team. The minimum age for solo participants is 18 years, while team members must be at least 16 years old.
Sprint: This race includes a 5km run, 20km cycle and a 2,5km run. Solo entries cost R200, and teams can enter for R201 per team. Solo participants must be at least 16 years old, with team members required to be at least 12 years old.
Super Sprint: Ideal for younger and novice athletes, this race involves a 2,5km run, 10km cycle and a 1,25km run. Both solo and team entries are priced at R150. The minimum age for all participants in this category is 12 years.

Licensing:
Athletes who are not current Triathlon South Africa (TSA) licence holders will need to purchase a day licence. The cost is R50 for the Super Sprint and Sprint distances, and R120 for the Standard distance. For those planning to participate in multiple events this season, obtaining an annual TSA licence is recommended.
Late entries:
Late entries are accepted on the day of the event, but will incur an additional fee of R50.
Team information:
The event supports team entries for specific classes, with team sizes ranging from two to three participants. This setup encourages camaraderie and teamwork, making the duathlon accessible to more participants.
