REGIONAL NEWS - From Friday to Sunday, 11 to 13 October, trail runners from across the country had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful annual Oyster Catcher multi-day stage run along the famous Oyster Catcher hiking route.
The route took participants from the Gouritz river mouth to Mossel Bay via the St Blaize hiking route along the coastline.
Primarily designed for trail runners looking to complete their first multi-day stage race, the distances covered are manageable and the terrain is mainly single-track (hiking trails) and beach running, with some technical areas to add variety.
The event offered either a two- or three-day challenge.
The three-day men's podium belonged to Pieter Burger in first place, Oliver Osborne in second and Daniel Graham in third place, while Marise Prinsloo secured the first place on the ladies' three-day podium with Jo-Lee Prinsloo second and Caylen Burger third.
In the two-day men's challenge, it was Alison James who took top honours with Malibongwe Ntlokwana second and Jandri Vorster in third place, while Lilica Burger (first), Karien Kromhout (second) and Sunel Jacobs took the ladies two-day podium.
