SPORT NEWS - The Nomads’ August monthly game was held at Oubaai Hotel Golf and Spa on Sunday 23 August after the previous month’s event at Knysna was washed out by rain.
With the postponed game needing a new venue at short notice, Oubaai stepped in to accommodate the Nomads, helping ensure the event could go ahead as planned.
“The team at Oubaai really stood up and assisted us at very short notice. We are extremely grateful and appreciative of what they did for us,” said Gary de Klerk, Nomads liaison officer.
Golfers were also fortunate to be treated to near-perfect conditions, with plenty of sunshine and only a light breeze. This was particularly welcome at Oubaai, where stronger winds can make the course a demanding test.
De Klerk praised the Oubaai team for their efforts in making the day run smoothly.
“To Quinton Byleveldt and his team, we thank you for all the organisation that made this day possible and allowed everything to run smoothly,” he said.
The competition produced some closely fought divisions, with the top scores being:
A Division: Brandon Barnard (guest) - 35 points
B Division: David Eveleigh - 35 points
C Division: Flats Huisamen - 36 points
De Klerk said the Nomads were grateful to the sponsors and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
Their next event will take place in Oudtshoorn on 13 September.
