Nomads celebrate 60 years and 600 games for John Winton

SPORT NEWS - The Nomads Southern Cape's monthly golf game was held at Knysna Golf Club on Sunday 11 October with 75 players enjoying a day of excellent weather and golf.

The occasion was particularly special for Nomads South Africa member John Winton, who received his 60-year and 600-game awards. The achievement reflects extraordinary commitment, as only 12 games per year count towards the milestone.

Winton's achievement represents six decades of dedication to the organisation.

Highlighting the friendship and camaraderie at the heart of Nomads, fellow Nomad Alan Tennant jokingly assured Winton that he could continue attending games in his later years by serving as his designated driver.

National chairperson Brandon Stainthorpe attended the event to present Winton's awards and brief Southern Cape members on Nomads' standing internationally.

The division winners were Tony Young in the A division with 40 points, Frankie Brown in the B division with 40 points and Chris Marais in the C division with 39 points.

The next monthly game takes place at Mossel Bay Golf Club on 1 November.
