SOCCER NEWS - The Zone 9 side Young Masters taught Vuvuzela United a hard lesson with an emphatic 4-2 victory in a Geolfa Super League fixture at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday 6 September.
Ayabulela ‘Trompies’ George (brace), Thando Binqela and Inganathi Mtsi scored the four goals for the Young Masters, while Asivile Dingiso and Lingelethu Nongede were on the scoresheet for Vuvuzela.
With both teams occupying the bottom half of the log standings, Young Masters upped their game over the weekend, earning six points with their two games.
They dominated early on, rolling the ball on the ground, employing their pace on the flanks. Vuvuzela’s backline was under pressure from George, who created opportunities and scored the opening goal.
Trailing 1-0 at half-time, Vuvuzela United pressed strongly for a comeback in the second half. The hard work from the centre paid off when Dingiso brought his side into the game, levelling the score on 1-1.
With both sides playing offensive football, George added a second goal for the Young Masters, making it 2-1, but Vuvuzela United turned the tables when Nongede levelled the score on 2-2 from a penalty spot kick.
The Masters attacked on the flanks, and Inganathi Mtsi netted a third goal, making it 3-2.
Gaining confidence, Young Masters continued winning every ball from the centre, seeing netting his brace to make it 4-2 in the last moments of the game.
