FOOTBALL NEWS - The Zone 9 team Young Killers sank the Regional League returnees Young Pirates 3-2 in a tough Geolfa League fixture on Sunday afternoon, 9 June at Thembalethu Stadium.
Young Pirates are currently occupying seventh position on the Geolfa League table while Killers FC are fighting to reach the top eight.
The game saw all the points scored in the second half after several attempts by both teams during the first half that missed the goal. The fist goal was scored in the second half with Odwa Moss netting the ball for Young Pirates.
Young Killers put in extra effort resulting in Meliqiniso Dube levelling the score. With Young Killers continuing to push forward on the wings, Dube scored another goal, putting them in the lead 2-1.
With only a few minutes left on the clock, Xhantilomzi Kaka surprised everyone when he managed to beat the Young Pirates goalkeeper with a long-range shot from the centre line, making it 3-1.
A desperate Pirates side threw in everything they had and received two penalty kicks, with Odwa Moss adjusting the score to 3-2 from the second penalty in the final minutes of the game.
