SOCCER NEWS - Silver Stars FC secured a 2-0 victory over All Stars in a Geolfa Promotional League match at Thembalethu Stadium on Sunday 29 March.
Both sides entered the fixture aiming to strengthen their positions in the top three.
The first half saw a balanced contest as Silver Stars attempted to build attacks through the flanks, while All Stars responded with pace on the right wing.
Despite several promising moves and disciplined play from both teams, neither managed to break the deadlock before half-time, leaving the score at 0-0.
The breakthrough came in the second half when All Stars' Siphenathi Gxegxe conceded an own goal under pressure from a cross delivered by Achumile Njili, handing Silver Stars a 1-0 lead. All Stars pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but were unable to convert their chances.
Silver Stars extended their advantage after Sinalo Sikateni was fouled inside the penalty area. Lungisa Mzolo successfully converted to make it 2-0.
The match's intensity increased later on, as both teams were reduced to 10 players following some red cards from the ref.
This match result leaves both teams in the top five of the league standings after 10 matches.
Silver Stars' head coach, Siphi Memani, praised his team's performance, highlighting their preparation and teamwork, and commended them for their effort against a strong All Stars side.
