SOCCER NEWS - The Silver Town outfit Silver Stars FC showed no mercy when they dipped Future Stars 3-1 in a thrilling Geolfa Promotional League fixture at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday afternoon, 12 July.
Silver Stars' offensive winger, Sinalo Sikateni, gave a stellar performance during this game. He (brace) and Kamva Koti contributed the three goals for Silver Stars, and Indiphile Ndabambi the one for the Future Stars.
Log table
In their first campaign in the promotional league, the youthful Future Stars FC, from Phelandaba, is doing very well on the log standings.
With 48 points, they are in fifth position with three remaining league fixtures. So far, they have played 27 games with 15 wins and three draws, and have lost in nine meetings.
Meanwhile the Silver Stars are battling for the top eight positions on the log.
Rolling the ball
The fixture got off to a great start with both teams rolling the ball on the ground. Future Stars' goalkeeper, Thembinkosi Wilson, made a brilliant save, denying Sikateni his first goal and forcing a corner kick for Silver Town. With both sides attacking on the flanks, Sikateni scored the opening goal, making it 1-0. No more goals were scored the first 45 minutes and it ended with Future Stars trailing into the break.
The second half saw both teams using clever ball tactics.
Future Stars players were working smartly in the centre, employing the strength of Ayabonga Mntengwana and Chulumanco Ndzide, who were supported by Indiphile Ndabambi up front. Koti of Silver Town pulled off their second goal, making it 2-0 and causing Future Stars to come back with full force.
Ndabambi wrote his name on the scoresheet, making it 2-1.
The Silver Town team used the pace of Asiphe Nkata to penetrate through Future Stars' backline, and Sikateni closed the chapter when he scored their third goal, making it 3-1.
