Silver Stars bag U15 title

SOCCER NEWS - The Silver Town-based side Silver Stars FC's juniors team were crowned the champions after beating Vista FC 0(5)-0(4) on penalty shoot-outs in a tough Geolfa Youth Day Tournament final on Sunday.

Played at different venues over two weekends, the tournament saw 16 teams competing with the final played at Imizamo Yethu High School.

In the two semi-finals, Silver Stars defeated All Stars 2-0 and Vista FC beat Burning Fire 3-0.

Likhona Ntolosi of Vista FC gave a standout performance in the centre of the field.

In the second half, Silver Stars showed strong play on the right side of the field, but Vista did very well blocking their offensive play.

With no goals scored in official playtime, a number of nail-biting minutes followed as the champions were determined in a penalty shoot-out.

The FNB Football Development Programme's youth coach, Zonwabele Dlala, told George Herald they were on the right track in identifying talent for the upcoming U15 FNB regional competition.
