Paris United extends its lead
The high-flying Paris United FC maintained its top position on the log table after beating Silver Stars 3-0 in an entertaining Geolfa Promotional League game at Thembalethu Stadium on Saturday afternoon, 17 May.
Ayabulela Joja, Mali Mnqweno and Anele Pungwana netted the three goals for Paris United.
With 48 points, Paris United is currently sitting comfortably at the top spot. Meanwhile, the Silver Town team is in the top eight.
The Geolfa league started at high tempo with Silver Stars receiving a free kick from the centre of the field. They pulled a powerful shot just outside the box, but it was blocked by a Paris United defender.
Ayabulela Joja scored the first goal, making it 1-0, putting more pressure on Silver Stars.
Paris United was awarded a penalty after a dangerous foul from the Silver Stars backline inside the box. Mnqwno Mali scored this, making it 2-0.The first half of the game ended with Paris United looking for more goals.
They started the second half with a powerful shot, but it went over the bar. Anele Pungwana scored the third goal for Paris United, making it 3-0.
The Silver Stars tried to come back into the game, but it was too late. This exciting game ended 3-0, Paris United pocketing maximum points.
Future Stars defeated
On Sunday afternoon, 18 May, Future Stars FC went down 3-1 against the pace-setters Paris United at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Pungwana, Joja and Siyanda Kalo scored the winning goals for the log leaders, and Anovuyo Nguzo scored the solitary goal for Future Stars.
Paris United scored their first goal in the first half of the game, as the Future Stars were defending the strong attack from the Paris United wingers.
The first half ended with 1-0.
In the second half, Future Stars tried to play the ball on the ground, creating more chances going forward into the box. Joja netted the second goal to make it 2-0, after beating Future Stars goalkeeper with a powerful shot.
Future Stars came back into the game and managed to break through - Nguzo scored the first goal, making it 2-1. Paris United were playing the ball on the ground, trying to get more chances. The Future Stars goalkeeper made a dangerous foul inside the box, awarding Paris United a free penalty - Kalo scored it, making it 3-1, making more work for the Future Stars players.
