SOCCER NEWS - The Phelandaba-based side Paris United FC were crowned the champions of the George Local Football Association after delivering a consistent performance throughout the entire 2024/25 season.
This triumph makes Paris United FC the only team from Thembalethu that goes through to the Safa Eden Hollywoodbets Inter Local Football Association (LFA) play-offs for the upcoming season.
In the last game, Paris United played a goalless draw against the struggling Bangalore FC, sealing the 2024/25 season in style.
With 69 points, they were crowned the champions of Geolfa Promotional League. The Phelandaba boys have played 30 encounters with 29 victories, six draws, three defeats and 78 goals.
All Stars FC from Zone 9 is in second position with 59 points, while Raul Stars FC is third with 56.
After putting in some wonderful work these last two seasons, Paris United will be representing George in the LFA play-offs to be played at a later date. The six local football association league winners will be battling for the top two spots to secure a promotion to the elite Safa Eden Hollywoodbets Regional League.
Aiming for regional league spot
One of the team's coaches, Xolani 'Sky' Mabele, said Paris United has now been the Geolfa League champions four times.
It's been a long, tough journey after they were demoted a few seasons ago, but the team united and went back to the drawing board.
Their primary aim now is to win the LFA play-offs and go through to the HollywoodBets Regional League for the 2025/26 season.
Mabele hailed those young players who still need to play in the next level.
He concluded by sending his players warm gratitude for their commitment to the game after their elimination from the regional football, and a special thanks to Geolfa for its massive effort in sport development in George.
