GEORGE NEWS - George Soccer Club hosted a very successful u.7 and u.9 Garden Route Summer Tournament at Nelson Mandela University from 28 to 29 September.
It was attended by more than 140 young players and over 200 enthusiastic supporters.
Local teams included George Soccer Club, Shimba FC, Soccerstarz and Yule FS, who were joined by touring teams from Gqeberha, Callies AFC, and Bay City FC, creating an exciting and competitive atmosphere.

In the u.7 division, Callies AFC's Knights emerged as the winners, with Bay City FC's Cubs finishing as runners-up. Callies AFC's Shamrocks claimed third place. The u.9 category saw Shimba FC triumph as champions, with Callies AFC's Strikers securing second place and their Warriors taking third.
The tournament was made possible by generous sponsors, including Online Direct, Six Peak Games and Misure Brokers.
"Looking ahead, George Soccer Club has announced plans for more youth tournaments in early 2025, including a return leg to be held in Gqeberha in 2025, continuing the collaboration between local and visiting teams," said Vaughn Cox of George Soccer Club.
"This weekend's tour-nament showcased not only the region's soccer talent but also the spirit of community and sportsmanship, leaving players, coaches, and fans eagerly anticipating the next event."
The winners of the u.7 division are Callies AFC's Knights from Gqeberha.
