GEORGE NEWS - A second-half goal from Mihle Nethe helped Future Stars FC secure a 2-1 victory against France United in a tough Promotional League encounter on Saturday 1 June at Thembalethu Stadium.
Future Stars is a formidable force in the Geolfa Development League, currently top of the log with 31 points with their sights set on gaining promotion to the bigger competitive Geolfa League.
They have played 13 fixtures with 10 victories, one draw, and two losses. France United is battling to reach the top five positions on the log table.
The first half saw France United playing offensive football and Future Stars countering with excellent touches on the ball. The Stars netted their first goal within the first 10 minutes after putting extra pressure on the France United back line. France United received a corner kick and scored the equalising goal just before the end of the first half.
Heavy rain upped the challenge for both teams in the second half, forcing them to play the ball on the ground. With France United fighting for the winning goal, Future Stars flanks broke through their back line and Mihle Nethe netted their second and winning goal. Future Stars pocketed maximum points, extending their lead at the top of the table.

In conversation with George Herald after the game, Future Stars head coach Zolani Makendlana said that it was a balanced match with both teams working very hard on the ground. He noted that everything went well during the game and praised the match officials for a job well done.
