SOCCER NEWS - Thanks to the efforts of former football players Sinenkosi Keyizana and Mvuyisi Ntozini, now the managers of Herald Fitness Gym in Thembalethu, nine young soccer hopefuls from Thembalethu and their coaches departed from George on Sunday morning, 30 November, to follow their football dream.
The players, who were recently identified by the Stars of Africa Academy during a mini tournament hosted by Herald Fitness Gym at the Lawaaikamp Stadium, will be tested on the field to show off their strength and abilities.
The boys from George joined the Stars of Africa Academy players in Johannesburg for their first practice sessions on Monday 1 December.
Until Friday 5 December, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent in front of Stars of Africa Academy coaches Arend Ikraamudeed and Ismail Nazeer.
According to Keyizana and Ntozini, the boys were a bit nervous during their first training, but are by now gelling very well with the rest of the players, and they are hopeful this is the beginning of great things for them.
The nine players who were selected for the programme are Bukho Haas (Jonga High), Iviwe Dayeli (Jonga High), Masibonge Qampi (Imizamo Yethu), Linamandla Mthonga (Imizamo Yethu), Luzuko Blekiwe (Imizamo Yethu), Sange Manzi (George Royal Academy), Solima Nxanka (George Royal Academy), Luthando Baleni (George Royal Academy) and Sivile Bless (George Royal Academy).
