SOCCER NEWS - Black Cats FC delivered a clinical performance on Saturday 21 February, defeating De Rust United 4-2 in a thrilling Safa Eden Regional Men's League clash at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
De Rust, rooted to the bottom of the log with just four points from 12 matches, made a dream start when Samuel Goljats struck within five minutes to hand his side a 1-0 lead.
Black Cats responded swiftly with Oyisa Jantjies levelling matters at 1-1.
Despite De Rust's control in midfield, the hosts turned the tide. Mphumzi Kalolo propelled Black Cats ahead and Sandiso Mavi extended the advantage to 3-1.
Goljats kept his side in contention by completing his brace after having rattled the woodwork earlier, narrowing the score to 3-2.
However, Asanele Mnyungula sealed the victory with a late fourth goal, keeping the Cats' top-eight ambitions alive as they move to 20 points.
- Meanwhile, log leaders Moonlight FC strengthened their grip on the summit with a 4-2 win over Fast Eleven at the same venue on Sunday. Goals from Jacolin Lingerveld, Everton Maxim, Jaden Swartbooi and Cornelius Bessie secured the four points for Moonlight, lifting it to 37 points after 15 matches. Fast Eleven slipped to eighth place despite goals from Kamvalethu Dyordane and Nkosothando Faku.
