GEORGE NEWS - Last season's regional men's league champions, Black Cats Football Club from George, failed to collect much-needed points in their Western Cape ABC Motsepe League game in Cape Town last Sunday, 12 December.
They lost 1-0 against the Cape Town team Zizwe United FC at "slaughter house" Nyanga Stadium. The Lawaaikamp outfit showed many good qualities, fighting spirit and teamwork throughout the game, but they failed to convert their chances.
Black Cats have so far played four games and had only one victory, while the Cape Town boys Zizwe United are still undefeated after having played five games. The new-comers, Maties Football Club from Stellenbosch (Cape Winelands), surprised everyone when they netted the most goals of the weekend, defeating Langebaan LFC 6-1.
The Western Cape ABC Motsepe League is divided into groups A and B, with a total of twenty-one teams for the 2021/2022 season.
The group A teams are: Zizwe United, Ubuntu Football, Clarewood AFC, Mbekweni Sundowns, Grassy Park United, Santos, Cape Town Spurs, Gansbaai City, Black Cats, Royal Blues and Jomo's Power. The group B teams are: FN Rangers, Glendene United, Hout Bay United, Trojan United, Maties, Norway Park Magic, Langebaan, FC Milan, Ikapa Sporting and Police FC.
