SOCCER NEWS - Paris United claimed another title when they subdued Simunye FC 1-0 in the final of the Future Stars Soccer Tournament at Thembalethu Stadium on Sunday afternoon, 16 November.
Siyanda Kalo scored the only goal of the game.
Paris United started the tough game off looking very aggressive on the ball.
Simunye countered using the pace of Luzuko Sabelesiva on the flanks to put Paris United's backline under pressure, but no goals were scored in the first half.
In the second half, Paris United built their passes from the centre of the field. Both teams were pressing for more chances in the last minutes, but when playtime was over, there was still no score on the board and the game went on to extra time.
The Paris United players received a penalty after a reckless challenge inside the box, and Kalo beat the goalkeeper to clinch the win.
The champions received R10 000 in prize money, the trophy and some gold medals, while Simunye cashed in with R7 000 and silver medals.
Paris United's head coach, Lusanda Nkwateni, told George Herald it was a great feeling to see the club's impact in Thembalethu, changing lives through sport.
