CRICKET NEWS - The Garden Route Badgers got their T20 campaign off to a perfect start in the Cricket SA Division 2 T20 series with an eight-wicket victory against the Limpopo Impala at the Polokwane Cricket Club on Saturday 25 October.
The home side, who won the toss, got their innings off to a flying start with an opening stand of 94 (in 10 overs) between Liam Peters (45 from 33 balls) and Sizwe Masondo (43 from 38 balls).
The Badgers’ bowling unit, however, regrouped and pulled matters back as the Limpopo Impala finished on 160/4.
The Badgers’ run chase was clinical, and an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 114 between the hard-hitting Heath Richards (67 from 55 balls; 3x6, 6x4) and the skipper, George van Heerden (52 from 35 balls; 6x4), took the Badgers over the line with 10 balls to spare.
