South Africa won the toss and elected bowl first and bowled the hosts out for just 92, their second lowest T20 International total and then replied with 96 for four in 17.1 overs despite crowd trouble which halted play twice for more than 45 minutes.
Recalled Albie Morkel, who replaced the injured David Wiese for the tour claimed the man of the match award with his figures of 4-0-12-3 while Imran Tahir (2-24) and Chris Morris (2-16) provided excellent support. But it was the manner in which the visitors conducted themselves in the field which brought the biggest smile to the management staff.
Morris and AB de Villiers combined well to run out Virat Kohli (one) after Morris had trapped Shikhar Dhawan dead in front for 11 to leave the home side on 30 for two. Rohit Sharma, who produced a scintillating century in Dharamsala on Friday, then ran himself out with David Miller picking up the ball one-handed and throwing down the stumps at the non-strikers end.
Ambati Rayudu was then clean-bowled with a full-toss from Kagiso Rabada (4-0-18-1) without scoring for the second time in the series before MS Dhoni (five) and Suresh Raina (22) brought a little stability to the innings with a fifth-wicket stand of 22 at a run-a-ball.
But the visitors never let up and went for the jugular and ripped through the middle and lower order with Tahir and Morkel both claiming two wickets in one over.
