CRICKET NEWS - Following a 44-run victory against the North West Dragons on Saturday 15 November, The Garden Route Badgers women's team are now the log leaders in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 series.
Thanks to a bonus point victory, they surpassed the Western Province on the log to lead with 14 points after four matches.
Thanks to a third half-century in the competition by Izelle Cilliers (83; 138 balls; 1x6, 7x4), the Badgers amassed 202/8 in their allotted 50 overs.
Cilliers and Nadine Moodley (32) contributed 57 runs for the third wicket. Mieke de Ridder added a valuable 27, while Nthabiseng Nini (3/24) was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors from Potchefstroom.
Despite a fine innings by former Protea international Mignon du Preez (55), the Dragons never got going and were dismissed for 158.
The skipper, Zintle Kula (3/19), and Nicolien Janse van Rensburg (3/33) each bagged three wickets.
The Badgers' dismal performances in the Pro20 format continue, and they have now lost all four their matches.

The Badgers responded with 139/7, with Julia Hoal (54) the top run-scorer for a defeat of 27 runs.
