GARDEN ROUTE CRICKET NEWS - The SWD women's team is set to play their biggest game since women's cricket was introduced in the province in 2004 when they take on Easterns in a promotion qualifier at the Wanderers Club in Johannesburg this Saturday, 24 April.
Both SWD and Easterns were winners of their respective pools during the interprovincial tournaments that took place in March and the winner of Saturday's do-or-die clash will be promoted to the Cricket South Africa Women's A-Division next season.
The SWD women's team has become a strong unit in recent times, and the return of Miceala Andrews and Jané Winster from their tour with the SA Emerging team to Bangladesh is sure to boost the ladies from the Southern Cape.
However, Easterns were also undefeated in their interprovincial pool matches, and the East Rand-based team will be a challenge for Haroline Rhodes and her ladies.
The victorious SWD women's team that recently won Pool B of the CSA Inter-Provincial Women's competition.
The SWD women's team are: Julandi Saayman, Mochelle May, Bianca Figeland, Vuyolwethu Bonya, Haroline Rhodes (captain), Miceala Andrews, Cheyenne de Villiers, Jané Winster, Zoe Meyer (w/keeper), Chani Damons and Marnezelle Rabie. San-Marie Strydom and Jeneviewe Jantjies are the substitutes.
The coach is Eduard Strydom, the assistant coach is Merlin Masimela and Katrisha Strydom is the team manager.
