CRICKET NEWS - After the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers suffered two consecutive defeats in the Cricket South Africa One Day Cup Competition, they recorded a 48-run victory against the SA Emerging team on Wednesday 26 February.
In a match that was played at the LC de Villiers Ground in Pretoria, the Badgers posted a competitive 258 after being put in to bat.
Kelly Smuts (71 from 76 balls; 10x4) scored his third consecutive half-century in the series while Heath Richards was in destructive form and contributed 64 from only 46 balls (4x6, 4x4).

The Badgers thereafter dismissed the Emerging team for 206 runs. The leg-spinner Reagon Rhode (3/34) was the pick of the bowlers.
In a make-or-break match on Saturday 1 March against the Tuskers in Pietermaritzburg, the Badgers however lost by 46 runs, ruining their changes to reach the final.
The Tuskers, the log leaders, batted first and posted 203 all out after being at 120/2 in the 24th over. Pheko Moletsane (3/44 in 10 overs) was the pick of the bowlers. The Badgers batting line-up disappointed and was dismissed for 157.
The Badgers will end their campaign with two home games, against Eastern Storm on Wednesday 5 March and against Eastern Cape Iinyathi on Sunday 9 March.
