The organisation of the event by ASWD - co-hosted by the city of George for the first time - received high praise from the visiting athletes - in total 3 250 representing 17 pro-vinces throughout South Africa. The track is arguably the best of its kind in the country and on par with the best overseas. More than 3 000 spectators attended the event.
George is without a doubt busy establishing itself as a mecca for big sporting events of this nature.
The top performances by local athletes were (gold): Annatjie Botes women u.55 4km; Daneil Tieties boys u.8 1km; Euline Swarts girls u.8 1km; Mursha Jooste girls u.9 2km. (silver): Marrida Leen girls u.17 4km; Henriette van der Ros girls u.10 2km; Waldo Kaptein boys u.13 4km. (bronze): Jandri Snyders girls u.10 2km; Malvin Visser boys u.12 3km; Ruben Dlepu boys u.17 6km.
