GEORGE NEWS – The Garden Route is about to pulse with high-octane energy as top multi-sport athletes from across the country gear up for the 2025 SA Duathlon Championships, happening right here in George!

Set to take place on Saturday 12 July, the event will see competitors battle it out in the classic run-bike-run format, with the picturesque Hoekwil landscape serving as a stunning (and tough!) backdrop.

In exciting news for the region, Eden Triathlon, together with Chain Gang Events, has been awarded the hosting contract for the SA Duathlon Champs for the next three years – a major coup for the local sporting scene.

Duathlon teams from across South Africa will take part, but there's good news for eager athletes who didn’t meet the national qualifying criteria: entries are open for the Sprint Open Category, allowing broader participation in this high-profile event.

Registration will take place at the Wilderness Hotel on Friday, 11 July, from 17:00 to 20:00, with a compulsory race briefing at 19:00 sharp. No registration will be allowed on race day.

Podium presentations and a festive closing ceremony will take place at Fairy Knowe Hotel on Saturday at 18:00 – spectators and supporters are also welcome.
