GEORGE NEWS - The 16-year-old Garden Route triathlete Karli Lötter, racing in the u.19 category, has taken a superb silver medal at the African Junior Cup in Troutbeck, Zimbabwe, on Saturday 8 March.
Lötter finished behind Kadence Ribbink of KZN, giving Team South Africa the top two spots.
Third place belonged to Zimbabwe's Nicole Madya. The course at Troutbeck is considered one of the toughest in the series, with a hilly, undulating course in both the cycle and run legs.
This weekend, Lötter is back in Benoni for the South African Championships, after which the African Triathlon Cup in Namibia brings down the curtain on a busy three weeks.
She is currently in Pretoria with her coach, preparing for the weekend, and she is pleased with her performance in Zimbabwe.
"The course was super tough, but on the positive side, I learned so many things that will definitely benefit my racing in the future."
