ATHLETICS NEWS - The atmosphere was electric at Libertas Guest Farm in Hoekwil on Saturday 8 February when nearly 400 runners gathered at the starting line of the Two Lagoons Race.
The 10km route, while less demanding than the 30km challenge, still proved to be a satisfying test for participants.
The undulating course, featuring one challenging uphill section, took runners through scenic farmlands. The route provided the perfect balance of difficulty and beauty, allowing participants to connect with nature while pushing their physical limits.
The 30km route was a true test of strength and perseverance. Starting with a winding, out-and-back stretch along the Seven Passes Road, runners were greeted by the picturesque beauty of the area.
The course took participants into Swartvlei Guest Farm, nestled in a stunning landscape of farmland, forest, and the tranquil shores of Swartvlei Lake.
The true challenge came at T-Shirt Hill, a notorious climb known for testing competitors to their physical and mental limits. After conquering the hill, athletes made their way back toward Seven Passes to complete the final stretch toward the finish line at Libertas.
The sky was overcast, providing a welcome break from the heat.
Cape Multisport Club extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed.
Special thanks go to Libertas and Swartvlei guest farms and to Fairy Knowe Hotel, Capitec Bank, Rawson Properties and Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty, who assisted at the water tables.
