MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay resident Lukas Korff set a world record, doing 55 bench presses with a 50kg dumbbell under water on Saturday, 16 June.
The previous record was 38 bench presses. When asked why he beat the previous record so easily, he replied: "I have been practising really hard."
Korff did this to raise money in the form of pledges for a Mossel Bay infant, known only as Baby Layla, who is suffering from cystic fibrosis and battles to breath.
It is hoped the funds raised will enable Layla's mom to leave her job so she can be with her baby, who needs 24 hour care.
Korff said: "My first wife pass away from the same sickness. After she passed away a child dared me to set a world record and I have been taking dares ever since."
His slogan is: "I'm holding my breath so Baby Layla can breathe."
