GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - Impact Based Warning for the Western Cape and Namaqua Region of Northern Cape.
An approaching cold front is expected to result in strong northerly to north-westerly winds over the southern high-ground of Namakwa district (Northern Cape) and over the interior of the Western Cape province.
Wind with a speed of between 40-50km/h gusting 60km/h at times is expected in these areas from Wednesday 23 November late morning into the evening. These strong winds are likely to cause damage.
Affected areas in the region: Kannaland and Oudtshoorn.
Localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes (especially the N1), due to cross-winds on exposed high-level roads/bridges.
Risk of localised runaway fires due to dry conditions, hot temperatures, and strong winds.
