NATIONAL NEWS - They reported that at around 07:00 on October 3 that two cyclists were hit by a mini-bus taxi.
One of the cyclists, an adult male approximately 50-years-old, was crushed by the taxi then dragged for over half a kilometre before the taxi was stopped by members of the public as it was alleged the taxi driver attempted to drive off.
“Medics assessed the scene and found that the cyclist was still trapped underneath the taxi and required the Fire and Rescue services to use hydraulic tools to free the severely disfigured man,” the report read.
The man sadly showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene.
The second cyclist, also an adult male, was treated on scene and once stabilised was rushed to hospital by ambulance for further care.
The driver of the taxi had not sustained any injuries in the collision.
The Sandton Chronicle has contacted the police to see if an inquest docket has been opened.
