The 71-year-old man was arrested by Tarlton police officers at around 11pm on 27 August.
“The boy was allegedly sent to the suspect’s house to go and ask for soap,” police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome, said.
“But instead of giving the soap to the child, the complainant claimed 71-year-old raped the child.”
The suspect has since been arrested and made a brief appearance on 31 August in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court. He is still in custody and is expected to appear in the same court tomorrow to apply for bail.
