NATIONAL NEWS - A group of about 100 outsourced workers at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) have finally accepted the institution’s insourcing agreement, but say they’ll only return to work if they are guaranteed not to face disciplinary action.

The university reached a deal with unions last month that would see outsourced workers integrated over the three-year period and receive a starting minimum monthly salary of R5,000.

The group, led by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) student command, has been demonstrating at the Pretoria West campus gate for three weeks, and occasionally clashed with the police.

Three weeks ago, the group of a hundred workers demonstrated from sunrise to sunset, causing disruptions for several days.

Now, fatigue has set in and without popular support from the students, the workers sit idle in the shade of trees.
