Using the mid-range GLX as a base, the new ASX Sport comes decked out in an exterior finish identical to that of the Triton Athlete, and further adds equipment worth a claimed R30 000 at no additional cost.
Aside from the sportier body, which can be had in white or grey, the Sport’s list of added features includes gloss black alloy wheels, a full-length panoramic glass roof, leather seats with the front chairs being heated, keyless entry/start, an electrically adjustable driver’s chair and a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Up front, Mitsubishi has kept the Sport unchanged from the rest of the ASX line-up, with the normally aspirated 2.0-litre petrol engine again producing 110kW/197Nm, which is send to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.5-litres/100km with the top speed being 194km/h, and the 0-100km/h dash taking 9.6 seconds.
As indicated, the Sport retails for the same R399 900 as the regular ASX GLX, with the sticker price including a three year/100 000km warranty and a five year/90 000km service plan.
